Though we know there is no place called Madras, Mexico, the beautiful color blocks on the front of this piece remind us of Indian Madras cloth. Patchwork madras is made by cutting a number of madras plaid fabrics into strips, then sewing them back as 3-inch squares. The pattern that results is a mix of various plaids crisscrossing. Lovely, don't you think?
